The Community Achievement Awards for Tasmania are about recognising individuals, organisations and groups who are making a difference in our local communities and our State. There can never be enough encouragement and support for those working towards making our State a better place. Awards such as these create an opportunity to say thank you to those who work tirelessly to develop and improve in their chosen field of endeavour.

Lara Giddings MP The Community Achievement Awards are about passion.

They’re about the passion of people whose commitment to making Tasmania a better place is an inspiration to all of us.

From the sports field to the community sector to caring for our environment, Tasmanians are making a contribution to every facet of the life of this State every day of the year.

The Community Achievement Awards give us a chance to recognise the achievements of some of the people who do so much to make Tasmania such an amazing place to live.
I am delighted to be Patron of the awards and look forward to celebrating the triumphs, contributions and accomplishments of some wonderful Tasmanians in 2011.

General Information:
  1. Entry is free. Eligibility for entry is dependant on the award category and may be open to businesses, groups, organisations and/or individuals.

  2. Individual entrants must be Australian citizens.

  3. Nominees must reside in Tasmania and have done so for a minimum of two years.

  4. All guidelines should be addressed in your nomination. Supporting documents and photographs must be provided with your nomination. Include a 100 word "highlights/summary of achievements" summary of your nomination for publicity purposes.

  5. All submitted nominations and supporting material remain the property of the Awards office and will not be returned.

  6. Entrants agree to media publicity associated with the awards nomination.

  7. Nominations must not incorporate more than 30 pages in total.

  8. Nominations must arrive at the Award’s office no later than the close of nominations date
    Tuesday 24th July 2012.


  9. A full "photo copy" of the entire nomination(all pages) must be submitted with the nomination.

  10. Finalists are required where possible to attend the gala awards presentation ceremony on
    20th October 2012.

Prizes:

All winners will be presented with a trophy and a prize in the relevant category

  • Tamar Valley Dairy Business Enterprise Award – The winner will receive a television airtime package comprising 20 x 30 second airtime commercials on Southern Cross Television(* conditions apply).

  • Prime Super Events and Tourism Award – The winner will receive a television airtime package comprising 20 x 30 second airtime commercials on the Southern Cross Television (*conditions apply).

  • MAIB Disability Achievement Award – The winner will receive a $1,000 Everyday Account from the Commonwealth Bank.

  • Ricoh Business Centre Environment and Sustainability Award – The winner will receive a $1,000 Everyday Account from the Commonwealth Bank.

  • Volunteering Tasmania Volunteer Management Award – The winner will receive a $1,000 Everyday Account from the Commonwealth Bank.

  • Heather and Christopher Chong Outstanding Achiever Award – The winner will receive a $1,000 Everyday Account from the Commonwealth Bank.

  • Angove Family Winemakers Primary Industries and Agriculture Award – The winner will receive a $1,000 Everyday Account from the Commonwealth Bank.

  • Howrah Plumbing Community of the Year Award – The winners will receive a $1,000 AwardSaver Account from the Commonwealth Bank.

  • All nominees and finalists will receive a letter of congratulations and a certificate of encouragement for their nomination.

Judging:
  • Three finalists will be chosen in each category. A winner will be chosen for each category but will not be known until announced at the Awards Gala Presentation evening.

  • Judging will take place on Thursday 13th September 2012.

  • The judging panel will include representatives from award sponsors and community leaders who have or are making a valuable contribution to Tasmania.

  • The decisions of the judging panel are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

AWARDS PRESENTATION

The finalists and winners of the Community Achievement Awards for Tasmania will be announced at a special gala awards presentation dinner on Saturday 20th October 2012 at the Hotel Grand Chancellor
in Hobart.

This dinner will be a formal event attended by approximately 330 guests.

Tamar Valley Dairy Business Enterprise Award

Successful businesses are making important economic contributions to our communities. Creative and innovative business and commercial ventures provide opportunities for growth, productivity, leadership, training and employment. Businesses are continuing to realise their corporate vision and mission in areas such as product development, manufacturing and construction, agriculture, primary industry, e-commerce, wholesaling, exporting, retailing, trades and other professional services. The Tamar Valley Dairy Business Enterprise Award will also highly regard successful businesses that also show good corporate citizenship through giving back to the community.

Prime Super Events and Tourism Award

The Prime Super Events and Tourism Award recognises the hard work of those individuals, groups and organisations that are involved in promoting and developing their community through events and tourism. A successful event will not only drive visitors to the local area, but will also contribute to the social, economic, and commercial success of the community.

MAIB

MAIB Disability Achievement Award

There are many people in our community who live their life with a disability. This Award acknowledges and salutes those people with a disability who successfully integrates into and contributes to the community or has overcome difficulty to become an inspiration to us all. These amazing and outstanding individuals may have achieved what most thought would be impossible, overcome the odds in recovery or rehabilitation or they may be wonderful community citizens and role models that make a difference in and for the community.
They may be achieving, in sport, art, study, community service, education or be inspiring others. The MAIB Disability Achievement Award will recognise these amazing and inspirational individuals.

Ricoh Business Centre

Ricoh Business Centre Environment and Sustainability Award

The Ricoh Business Centre Environment and Sustainability Award acknowledges proven passion and dedication to improving the Tasmanian environment. It seeks to reward individuals or groups who work to overcome the challenges facing our natural world and to overcome the barriers to change that are usually encountered. Environmental improvements can come in many forms, for example, changing behaviours and patterns of consumption, restoring impacted areas, establishing sustainable business practices, and the protection of threatened species and habitat.

Regardless of the focus, the result is a better environment for all to share and a brighter future for our children. Those entering this category will embrace the concept of 'think globally, act locally' and work to make positive change.

Volunteering Tasmania

Volunteering Tasmania Volunteer Management Award

The VT Volunteer Management Award applauds excellence in the leadership and management of volunteers. Volunteers are integral to the social, cultural and economic development of Tasmania but in order for volunteering to flourish it requires effective management and organisational commitment.
The VT Volunteer Management Award recognises those organisations that effectively support volunteers by providing them with management systems and processes that are based on best practice volunteer management.

Heather and Christopher Chong Outstanding Achiever Award

The Heather and Christopher Chong Outstanding Achiever Award applauds our high achieving individuals who excel in their profession or chosen field of endeavour. It may be sport, art, culture, leadership, community involvement, academia or career. These individuals are at the forefront of accomplishment and are making a real difference in the community. They are successfully achieving their goals through hard work and are a wonderful role model to all of us. The Outstanding Achiever Award will pay tribute to our talented and dedicated high achievers.

The Primary Industries and Agriculture Award applauds our unsung heroes and high achievers working on land or marine farming and those primary producers who work tirelessly to provide us with food, drink and shelter. Primary industry and agriculture is the back bone of our regional and rural communities. Our highly diversified and sustainable natural resources, dairy, farming and sheep and cattle industries able have a reputation for products that are internationally competitive and among the finest in the world.

The Angove Family Winemakers Primary Industries and Agriculture Award presents an opportunity for our community to acknowledge those who provide us with food, clothing and shelter.

Howrah Plumbing Community of the Year Award

The Howrah Plumbing Community of the Year Award provides projects, groups, organisations, cities, towns or local government initiatives with an opportunity to gain recognition for their achievements and contributions to their community. These community groups share a strong sense of community spirit, which plays a vital role in enhancing the social and economic prosperity of their community. It is important to recognise and encourage these groups and organisations as their efforts help to make our State a stronger and more vibrant place to live and will develop and promote true comradely and community spirit for future generations to come.
