The purpose of these awards is to acknowledge, encourage and reward those individuals, organisations and community groups displaying exceptional achievement and has made a contribution to their local community, town, city or region. The nominee should present a significant positive image in their area and be an outstanding role model to the wider Queensland community.

General Information:
  • All nomination information and material submitted remains the property of Awards Australia office. Nominations will not be returned.

  • Nomination information will be used for publicity purposes.

  • Finalists should where possible be available to attend the formal awards presentation dinner.

  • All nominees will be invited to attend the awards presentation. A special presentation will also be made on the night to nominees not reaching the finalist stage. Inability to attend will not disadvantage any nominee.

Prizes:

With up to five Regional Achievers Awards available, the winner of each Regional Achievers Award will receive a $2,500 AwardSaver Account from the Commonwealth Bank and a magnificent trophy.

The Community of the Year will receive a $2,500 AwardSaver Account from the Commonwealth Bank with a community plaque and a perpetual trophy to be held by the local government authority

Judging:

The judging of the awards will take place on Thursday 28th September 2006. The judging panel will comprise of representatives of all the award patrons, presenter and sponsors.

The judging panel will also be made up of community leaders who have or are making a valuable contribution to regional and rural Queensland.

The decision of the judging panel is final. No subsequent correspondence will be entered into in regard to that decision.

Awards:

Each Regional Achiever and the representative of the Community of the Year will receive one complimentary VIP invitation to attend the State Awards Presentation dinner to be held on Saturday 18th November 2006.

Regional Achievers Awards
The Regional Achievers Awards will recognise the valuable contribution of up to five Regional Achievers who are making a difference in their community. The purpose of these awards is to encourage, recognise, acknowledge and reward the valuable contribution individuals are making throughout Queensland.

Golding
Community of the Year Award
The Community of the Year Award will recognise a specific community project, organisation or local government initiative. Communities that are achieving a contribution to their region should be nominated in this award. This award will highlight communities working together to create a better communities, towns, cities or regions.
