The purpose of the Channel 9 Young
Achiever Awards is to acknowledge, encourage
and most importantly promote the positive achievements
of young South Australians aged between 14 and 28
years of age.
The Awards recognise the achievements of South Australia’s
youth in ten categories, which are:

The Young Achiever Awards recognise the incredible contribution that young South Australians make to our State.
In every part of our community, there are young people working hard to realise their dreams, and to make a real difference to South Australia.
Our State can only ever be as great as the people within it – and the young people nominated for these Awards show that our future is very bright indeed.
Through their hard work and leadership, they inspire all South Australians.
As Patron of the Young Achievers Awards, I congratulate all nominees on their success, and wish them the very best for their future.

- To enter the Awards program you must first nominate during the call for nomination phase. Each category has three finalists selected with the winner announced at the Awards Gala Presentation Dinner. The evening culminates when one of the ten category winners is announced as the Premier’s/Channel 9 Young Achiever of the Year.
- Although all nominees of the program are invited to attend the Channel 9 Young Achiever Awards Gala Presentation Dinner, we request that finalists make every effort to attend. All nominees and finalists are encouraged to bring along family, friends and colleagues to share this special night with them.

The winner of each of the ten categories will be
presented with a magnificent trophy and $1,000 from
HomeStart Finance. The ultimate winner, the Premier's
/ Channel 9 Young Achiever of the Year, will receive
an additional $1,000 from HomeStart Finance, a trophy
and a holiday
provided by Hilton Hotels (conditions apply).

Three category finalists are selected for each category award.
From the three category finalists one category winner is selected as the category award winner.
From the ten category winners one is selected as
the overall state winner, the Premier's / Channel
9
Young Achiever
of the Year for South Australia.
Judging will take place on Tuesday 7th February 2012.
The judging panel will include representatives from
award sponsors, young people and independent expert
judges for each category.
The decisions of the judging panel are final and no
correspondence will be entered into.

The Winners of the Channel 9 Young Achiever Awards
will be announced at a special Gala Awards Presentation
Dinner to be held on Saturday 17th March 2012.
The Presentation Dinner, held at the Hilton Adelaide
is a formal event which attracts an attendance of
around 420 people including VIP guests. For further

heroes. They're dedicated young South Australians with
a strong spirit of competition and love of the
game. Encouraging and supporting the ambition
and hard work of these focused individuals, helps
them to go further, faster, longer and higher
than anyone before. Whether it's competing, coaching,
administration or education, the Worldwide Online
Printing Sports Award seeks to applaud their talents
and recognise their commitment in the pursuit
of excellence. |

Pollution, climate changes, salinity and the destruction
of forests affects us all. While many of us try
to make a difference, it is South Australia's young people
who are actively using their initiative to stop
destruction of our environment and help repair
the damage. By developing programs and using new
technology, it's these dedicated young individuals
who are helping to educate us all. The Flinders Ports
Environment Award salutes those who are dedicated
to saving planet Earth by nurturing and protecting
our natural surroundings. |

The Rural Doctors Workforce Agency Rural Health Award will recognise young people in regional and rural areas who are dedicated to those in need of health services. There are many who passionately and selflessly provide support, guidance, encouragement, assistance or professional services within the health sector. They offer friendship, hope, inspiration and medical or voluntary assistance to the aged, infirmed, sick, injured and home bound. The Rural Doctors Workforce Agency Rural Health Award acknowledges the services, efforts, actions and positive input provided by volunteers, carers and health professionals. These young people create a sense of community spirit, which plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life of those who depend on them.

All aspects of our lives are touched by Science in some way or another. Scientific discoveries have the power to make a real life impact on a personal, community and economic level. Young scientists’ work has the power to change lives and our world and their many outstanding discoveries hold the very key to our future. The University of Technology Faculty of Sciences Science and Technology Award recognises and honours the young people behind these intelligent and visionary achievements. |

Great career leaders see the world not as it is, but how it could be and they commit tirelessly to ensuring their vision will come to pass. With tenacity, ambition, creativity and innovation it is todays young leaders who shape our future at the forefront of tomorrows business and economic contribution. These young people may have overcome significant difficulty, adversity or hardship to achieve leadership excellence. It may be role modelling, mentoring and training that has developed them as leaders of excellence or they may simply be putting their heart and soul into making South Australia a better place. The Proteus Leadership Excellence Award will acknowledge young people who through their leadership and career success, pave the way for others to follow.

Everybody has a story…Young Aboriginal people are using their stories and life experiences to build up their community and encourage others to strive for their dreams.It is these passionate and dedicated young Aboriginal people who make a difference in South Australia. The Office for Youth Aboriginal Achievement Award is to acknowledge and congratulate their commitment in achieving excellence.

Many young South Australians have successfully started or operate their own small business or franchise and are making important economic and social contributions to our State. Creative business, franchises and commercial ventures provide opportunities for growth, productivity, leadership, training and employment. Many are also giving back to the community or giving others an opportunity. Young small business and franchise owners and operators are developing and realising their corporate vision and mission and showing us all how to roll the sleeves up and be successful in areas such as service provision, product development, manufacturing and construction, agriculture, primary industry, e-commerce, wholesaling, exporting and retail. The V.I.P. Home Services Small Business Achievement Award promotes those who “give it a go” through determination, innovation, hard work and self-motivation, rewarding those who make their own luck and opportunities a reality. |

Young South Australians are pursuing their trade or apprenticeship with passion and vitality. Whether it is successfully applying themselves to their apprenticeship or progressing from apprentice to tradesperson or to workshop or floor manager, or training or having responsibility for other employees, they are proving that becoming a tradesperson is a great career choice. The Factory Direct Home Air Conditioning Young Tradesperson of the Year Award will recognise hard work, initiative, successful learning and results, leadership, a desire for self-improvement and team work. The Award will acknowledge and reward those who make the most of their opportunities and are role models for others to follow.
