NEW SOUTH WALES

NSW/ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards

 Word from Winners:

Two weeks ago I got the thrill of my life. I must thank Erika and Teesha who ran the Community Regional awards. They are very professional and the night ran very smoothly.

This was my third time being nominated so it was brilliant when I finally won. The award is selected from 300 well deserving nominees who are then short listed to ten then the judges pick three finalists. The award is based on volunteer work you do in your community or for charity organisations It was very rewarding and humbling to have been nominated by my community. You certainly do not do volunteer work for thanks or accolades but when recognition and thanks are given it’s a great feeling.

My cheer squad, Bruce my husband and his best mate Bushy and I arrived early to Tweed Heads RSL Club. We had a calming drink then headed to the Awards Dinner Auditorium. We read the programme and all about the other nominees. The other recipients were very worthy and after reading their profiles I lost my nerves because I thought Alison Hamilton a stroke survivor had the award in the bag. The dinner was delicious, the entertainment brilliant and the people very friendly. The highlight was yet to come.

Imagine my huge shock when my name was read out as the winner. There was nothing restrained about our reaction we all jumped up cheering, Bruce and his mate was just as surprised and thrilled as I was.
I got a little bit emotional when making my speech but fortunately I made it to the end with not a tear being shed. After the awards I had a lot of people say how much they enjoyed hearing about Manildra and how they would like to visit. It was overwhelming we were on a huge high for the rest of the night

Thank you for a wonderful night at the Regional Achievment & Community Awards Gala Presentation Dinner held at the Ex-Services Club in Orange.

There were thirty three very excited Tottenham community members present at the dinner and they all recieved a tremendous thrill when the announcement was made that Tottenham had won the population under 15000 Community of the Year award.

On behalf of the Tottenham contingent I would like to congratulate yourself and Teesha for organising a very enjoyable and successful awards Presentation Dinner.

The cut glass trophy, the certificate of achievement award and the $5000.00 Commonwealth Bank Account created great excitement for all the Tottenham community members present. The $5000.00 will be invested in a Commonwealth Savings Account to help fund future doctor recruitment expenses.

Finally I would like to thank all the sponsors that supported the Awards - the generous financial assistance provided by the respective companies was greatly appreciated by everyone.

Thank you again it was a wonderful night.
